Breast thermography offers women information that no other procedure can provide, and usually earlier than other technologies. However, thermography is not a replacement for or alternative to any other breast test or procedure. Breast thermography and other breast screenings are complementary, one test does not replace the other. All thermography reports are meant to identify thermal emissions that suggest potential risk markers only, and do not in any way suggest diagnosis and/or treatment. Studies show that the earliest detection is realized when multiple tests are used together, since every screening method can miss something. This multimodal approach includes choosing a variety of these methods: physical breast exam performed by a health care practitioner, thermography, mammography, breast ultrasound, MRI, and any other test ordered by your doctor.
